The blobs have been washing up on beaches since September...and it sounds like nobody in either the Canadian Gov't, nor the journalism industry, has every heard of a microscope - let alone a chemistry lab - to get the slightest clue as to what they are.
OR - maybe lots of people know what they are. But the truth is boring, so the journalists keep saying "Mysterious!". Because they're only in it for the clicks.
At this point you can't rule out an ocean container full of poppin-fresh muffins that was lost at sea, spawned, and washed ashore ;)
