It costed around a dollar. I don't know if that's gas efficient because I'm still a beginner in this domain, started exploring web3 just a month ago. What I did to make it gas efficient was to upload image/video files to Pinata as soon as the user attaches them and then later when the user posts them, the generated hash gets sent to the blockchain node. And talking about saved posts being paid for in Pinata I haven't really thought about it since I myself used the pinata free tier for this.
And noted down that nature of Ethereum, will verify it and update the details later. Thanks for pointing it out.
Also glad to see things built with Ethereum getting air time on HN. I reckon now that they’ve expanded transaction volume and brought the fees right down, we’ll see more and more cool applications/toys start to pop up over the next couple of years. Rather than just speculative financial products and scams.
This is actually really cool. This may be the first application of blockchain tech that makes a lot of sense to me.
Barring someone hacking your wallet you can’t be impersonated on this without it being really obvious. I am thinking something like this would be better for government announcements and such as a result.
This has been done a few times before. How much does it cost to post? How are saved posts paid for in Pinata?
Ethereum is not anonymous, it's pseudonymous. Posting a transaction reveals your IP address and there's no default mixing between transactions.

Something similar was built way back in 2013 inspired by Bitcoin: https://github.com/miguelfreitas/twister-core
This is cool!

Very nice project.
thanks man I appreciate it but that government thing was too far-fetched I think
Maybe but currently lots of official government notices go out on Twitter and Instagram. Any ways nice work.
Eth is governed by those with the biggest stacks, so it’s not really something to be taken seriously.
I think you'll love Warpcast.com. It's basically this, but it's still very early.
